starter shoto is helpful but not as much as I thought at first. unless you have vortex up and you cant really depend on it so 3 at most. the other shoto to grant piercing and blocker hasnt been bad especially with toropiamon's inherit. 2 davis & kens are just alright too. the unsuspend doesnt have a lot of oppurtune moments and they net you more memory late game. I agree I haven't found really convincing picks either.
