Overview

List hasn't changed that much. This is not a meta deck and probably never will be simply due to how it's engine works. Regardless, I have seen some success with this list. The Emergency Program Shutdown! is a nice meta counter against the Glowing Dawn archetype.

Overview

List hasn't changed that much. This is not a meta deck and probably never will be simply due to how it's engine works. Regardless, I have seen some success with this list. The Emergency Program Shutdown! is a nice meta counter against the Glowing Dawn archetype.

This is a very Tamer centric list for 2 reasons:

  1. The draws provided by Mirei Mikagura, Yuugo Kamishiro and Akemi Suedou are absolutely invaluable in a control deck. The more tools you have, the better you can control the board and make decisions
  2. At the cost of a bit of tempo (which in a control deck, isn't crucial) they allow us to be much more memory efficient. For example:
    1. Mirei Mikagura let's you cheat any 4-cost Tamer on the deck, while handing you 2 draws. So for 3 memory, you are getting draw and a 4-cost Tamer in
    2. Akemi Suedou 's memory gain is fantastic, particularly in the late game. The more cost reduction you have, the better this'll work e.g. if you have 3 Eater (Species Form) under your Mother Eater, playing another Species Form or Eater Bit will earn you 1 memory (costs 3 which is reduced to 0 and then you get one from Akemi's effect)
    3. Yuugo Kamishiro is absolutely insane. Playset non-negotiable in this deck. It provides a 3-cost search but most importantly, it bounces for a 2 cost reduction on any CS trait card. This brings the cost of our Eaters and Tamers down to a state you can actually play them directly without passing the turn to your opponent.

Again, this is not a meta deck. You will be absolutely mauled by the turn 2 OTKs of archetypes like Glowing Dawn.

That being said, I have found some success with this list against somewhat strong decks (as the gameplay video shows).

Gameplan

=== Memory efficiency ===

You'll want to be as memory efficient as possible, but never too concerned about providing your opponent with memory. Memory choking is not a thing with this deck and here's why: everything is quite expensive, specially at first. Let's say you'll worry about choking your opponent and will only play a Species Form. What then? Well your opponent will pop-off with 1 or 2 memory alone, turbo Digivolve to Mega or go wide while still choking you. So now you are left with one measly Species Form, no memory, and a very much unfavorable board state. Screw that. Play as much as you can (obviously, without giving too much memory still, but don't sweat about passing turns at 4-5 memory).

One play I like to do is get Yuugo Kamishiro out and bounce it to play Eater Legion . Legion will let me play either a combination of Eater (Species Form) and/or Eater Bit , or preferentially, an Eater Eve which will then let me play a Yuuko Kamishiro under it. So you you spend 3 memory for the Tamer to reduce the Legion's cost to 6 plus whatever reduction your Mother Eater gets you, and turned it into a search from Yuugo, a threat from Legion, a lock from Eve and a free Tamer that grants protection from Yuuko (which all played out sepparately would have been several turns and almost 20 total memory cost). Not bad.

=== Try to play any of the draw Tamers as early as you can ===

Crucial. Game changer. Can't stress this enough. Get them all out.

=== Use the right tools at the right times ===

You will have plenty of draw and plenty of options. A nicely timed Eater Adam can delete an Ace Digimon and actually become a memory positive play through Akemi and cost reduction. A better timed Eater Bit can kill a Jogress piece before the opponent can react. Remember, you are to control the game which means playing reactively to your opponent some times.

=== Yuuko Kamishiro and Arata Sanada  can protect your biggest threats ===

I see this misplay a lot and found myself doing it time and time again. When you redirect an attack with Eve's Raid, a Species' form Blocker or Arata's redirect, it is very easy to want to increase DP on your attacker or blocker by 3k using Yuuko's All Turns. Don't. If you read the fine print, you'll see the bit that actually matters the most: for the turn, your opponent's Digimon's effects don't affect 1 of your Digimon. This can totally change the flow of a ***** Putting your big threats like Eater EDEN under this umbrella is absolutely game changer.

=== Let your opponent check your secs ===

Seriously. They will get there anyway - you won't be able to contain all threats. If you still have 5 and he is swinging turn 2 with a rookie, it is tempting to defend with Eater (Species Form) to get it tucked under our Digi-Egg. But... Is it really that big of a deal? Best case scenario, you get a Tamer for free (which is huge!) and worst case, you are down a security - which most times you'll be able to level by attacking instead of blocking. So why do it? Think carefully about the possibilities here. Sometimes, it is better to let your opponent check.

=== Pushing out our Mother Eater is a bonus ===

You are trying to control the board and the game, while chipping in. It will be hard but the payout can be great if you manage to put 3 Mother Eater on the board, no doubt. But that's a bonus - a sort of deciding factor if the game drags out too long. Most of the times, chipping at the security or locking your opponent out of a win is better. I have won by decking out the opponent more than once.
