Deck Primer

With the advent of new support, the Dex Program deck has evolved into something I did not expect it to become.  It became something that is a major threat to the meta game right now.  With all of the adjustments I have made over the time I have been playing and the reveals of new Dex cards themselves, I bring you the Dex Program deck.  But unlike other builds this one does not need a Death X to work.  This is a really big deal as that was the most expensive card the deck needed.

In addition to that, the new Dex cards are amazing.  Although your only really going to need two of each.  Once you get one of each one in rotation, your opponent has to be careful on what they do.  If your opponent tries deleting one of your non Dex Digimon, you can discover directly from the trash to the respective Dex to protect your board while possibly breaking your opponents.  By using Collision and the Inheritable from the new Dexdorugreymon, you can delete your own Digimon when attacking to remove another card.  By playing a Digimon with the inheritable of the SOC Dorugreymon, you can activate the on play effects of your rookies then sacrifice them for this cost on the second attack.  By sacrificing a Digimon you can then unsuspend both Dexdorugoramon and Dorugoramon for multi attacks.  With the tamer Kosuke, you gain both piercing and blocker so that you can play defensively and offensively.  Due to the inheritable of the new Dexdorugamon, you gain reboot which allows you to play flexibly and aggressively simultaneously.  With all of the protection and offensive tools, the Dex Program deck I designed is definitely the deck I will use as my main deck in tournaments on release.  As for the tech options I am running, well I have a few good things to say about that.  Ultimate Flare was considered in the list but I chose to remove them as the new Dexdorugoramon has that effect built in making it kinda redundant.  But DG Dimension lets you de-digivolve wider boards and remove stuff at the same time.  Final Zubagon Punch is used as a really strong finisher if needed.  An extra security attack with piercing and a multi attack is no joke.  Especially when combined with all of the defense the deck has.  The build can run either of the X-Antibody options so I chose to run one of each for the versatility.  Protoform for defense and the regular one for offense.  Instead of running Defense Training I chose to run Black Scramble whose effects synergize more with this deck.  Although I have no clue how expensive that card might become in the future.  I hope is is cheaper than the training cards.  But those three slots are flexible for whatever memory gaining option you want.  Black Memory Boost is also a viable option as a substitute.  There are more cards revealed earlier that I can run as well but sadly the new Tamer for the Dex deck is too slow for my liking and requires Kosuke to be already in rotation.  But I have considered running it.  In its place is the Death X Digivolution option card which fulfills the same role but more proactively.  Feel free to swap them based on which you prefer.  Death X is another story entirely though.  I highly recommend running it as it brings a lot of power to the table but it is just an expensive card so I took it out.  If you want to run it then I would take out a copy of DG Dimension.  But seeing as I don't want to spend over 50 dollars on a card that isn't needed for the deck to function I am completely fine without it.  Any of the Dorimon in the game can be extremely useful for the deck.  However this deck has a lot of draw power and consistency tools at its disposal so I opted to run the new Dorimon for its memory gain inheritable which is somehow once during both player's turns.  That is just too good to pass up on.  Overall I am really happy with the build I created.  And I hope that if anybody is actually reading this is having a good day.  I have been having a little bit of a rough time lately so this news is something that is helping me out quite a lot.  Dorumon is my partner Digimon after all.  I also have always preferred Dorugoramon over Alphamon.  But I will still work on building that variant as well.  Thank you for reading this far.

How frequent is scramble being used? Is it a good choice to replace training?

Sheru Muko avatar

The scrambles have yet to be released.  Decks that the trash prefer them over the trainings.

Just as a way of making this easier to digest for others who did not read the essay I wrote earlier.

Death X is not needed for the deck to function but is a nice card to add in instead of the fourth DG Dimension if you have it.

Good news, I built the core of the deck yesterday.  I went 23/0 with the deck today despite not having the Dex cards.  I also did not have the entirety of the Dorumon.  The deck works really well even without the searchers and BT 16 Dorumon to accelerate the deck.  The older Dex cards work well too.  But the newer ones have some important use cases if used properly.  The new Dexdorugoramon and Dexdorugreymon are far better than the older ones.  Dexdorugamon is a good card but the older one gives you memory over card draw.  I will be running two of each.

I have finally decided to run DeathX in the deck.  It is not needed but it can be played for free easily in this deck.

I adjusted the ratios to lower the decks cost and add in more versatility.  X-Digivolution is a powerful card that I added into the deck.  I also added in an X-Antibody for some bridge combos.  I lowered the number of the BT 7 Dorumon to add in another BT 17 Dorumon.  I have been using an incomplete version of the deck that doesn't even have any copies of the BT 7 Dorumon and it has been on a massive winning streak lately.  So I bumped the number down.  I don't even have the BT 16 Dorumon yet so I often hard play the tamer.  When complete I can just Digivolve into the BT 16 Dorumon and play the tamer for free and digivolve into the BT 16 Dorugreymon.  That way I can accelerate my combos a little.  I opted to keep the DeathX Digivolution the same as the second copy actually comes up.  I bumped up the number of Final Zubagon Punch to increase the decks damage output and consistency.  I did take out all copies of DG Dimension as I have found myself never actually needing it.  Also the new DexDorugoramon has a similar effect built in that is recyclable.  I also added in another copy of the new tamer.  I might go back to running only two and add in DeathX when that cards price goes down.  When Protoform goes down in price then I would run that instead of the X-Antibody.  Although either one works really well in the deck.  Some of my friends say I don't even need the new support but I beg to differ here.  Extra protection and added removal is a big deal.  And the reboot inheritable from the new Dorumon and DexDorugamon is a big deal.  I also bumped up the number of DexDorugreymon by removing a DexDorugoramon.  It is more common for me to be in a situation where I have my Dorugreymon with collision without me having a Dorugoramon in hand than having one.  So in order to help bridge the gap I added in another copy of the DexDorugreymon as a pseudo Level 6.  Also the inheritable is actually really powerful.  That is all I have to mention for now.  Have a good day.

So a little correction to the comment below.  I did not increase the number of the new tamer.

Just got back from the card shop and got all of the cards except the DexDorugoramon.  They didn't have any.

I replaced the scramble for the defense training and swapped out the Bt 7 Dorugamon in exchange for the SOC Tyrannomon.  It can help search out your pieces and is a blocker that can be related using the BT 16 Dorugreymon inheritable.  Since it is a blocker you can force an attack with the BT 16 Dorugamon and block with it by passing your opponent to one and blocking.  With the Dorimon inheritable you put your opponent to 0 memory.  This is a really bad spot to put your opponent in.  Especially when you have multiple Dorimon which can let you skip your opponent's turn in theory.  In practice it won't happen often.  As for the counter point of memory setters well that matter is simple.  The Bt 16 Dorugoramon can delete tamers.  That can be quite unfair to do sometimes.  A friend of mine who has been helping me throughout my testing hates that combo.  Especially when paired with the Dex parts of the deck and collision to force blockers and go for multiple security checks.  Which in turn revives stuff.  Strong deck and it doesn't have the consistency issues that I see a lot of other variants struggle with.  It seems that a rookie rush style might end up being the best way to play the deck.

I made further adjustments to the deck to increase consistency and lower price.

Sheru Muko avatar

I removed the Digivolve from trash support.

I wanted to keep them but the tamer wasn't really doing much and the Death X Digivolution was sometimes a dead card in hand.  Final Zubagon Punch was overkill.

Sheru Muko avatar

I added back in a single Death X Digivolution and added in another DexDorugreymon.  This will make it more likely for me to get into a level 5.  Although you would preferably want to use the Dex's to protect your cards, you can also use them proactively with Death X Digivolution.  The option is better than the tamer.  Running more than one can be a little bricky sometimes.  Just running the one for when it comes up is nice.  Metal Impulse is a card that is being used to help deal with certain matchups.  In particular Imperialdramon and decks with Partition.  Also it is a security bomb that can do a lot of damage to potential OTK combos.  DORU-Din is another card that is being used for the same reason.  But instead of dealing with a single large target, it deals with multiple smaller ones.  It is basically an option card version of the DexDorugoramon effect when combined with Metal Impulse.  Overall the deck has more removal and can be a little more threatening now.

Sheru Muko avatar

I updated my profile picture to match my Dex Program deck.  Now it is a DexDorugoramon

I simply removed a copy of the Warp Dorumon to add in another Tyrannomon.
